Joseph Ortiz - Solitary Confinement - Imagine for a moment being removed from the world, confined in a cell. What would you miss? A lover? Your family? A smell as simple as the earth’s grass? Sensory deprivation will force your mind to escape through dreams and illusions. Juxtaposing images and sounds, the artist takes the viewer through a part of his two-year experience in prison, in solitary confinement.
Louis Libitz - I am… - Using twelve vividly colored video frames of the artist, this piece is a personal reflection on being a fraternal twin.
Jaime Villacis - A failed attempt at eye. (excerpt) - A stunning and contemplative video self-portrait. The piece contains parts of a video diary, interviews, and a musical montage. The time and place where this work was produced shaped the content, and it explores who the artist was at the moment of the piece’s creation. The music underlying the video montage is very dear to the artist and through its lyrics expresses a great part of what he is… or thinks he is.
