Shani Difarnacio - The Train of Lethe – “In mythology Lethe is an underworld river from which dead souls drink in order to forget their past life. In this piece I went back to 170 St. in Washington Heights, NY where I was born. Unlike the mythological dead souls, I went back in order to remember a part of me that was forgotten. This piece is purposely sentimental because it is a place that I hold in my heart. I tried to capture every space that held an invisible memory including trivial corners that are not appreciated for their history. I deliberately constructed this piece to appear as a dream because the memories we have become blurry in our minds but remain clear in our hearts.”
