This Orient by Felix Rodriguez is an exploration of the Hindi culture in Jersey City, New Jersey. There exists a two-block enclave called India Square, where over 15,000 Indian Americans worship their gods in the street. For director Felix Rodríguez, the experience is at once visually stunning with moments of spiritual darkness and disarray. The audio design creates an intentional dissonance to recreate the director’s personal journey of being unable to relate to such an enigmatic people.

His vision was to summarize his life without the use of dialogue, only using personal family photos and video montaging to express the narrative. Corey ponders racial existence, adversity, love, and family in relation to becoming the person he is today.
Laced by Nick Salotti is a stop-frame animation depicting the process of lacing up a new pair of shoes. The shoelaces move themselves through their respective holes as they dance around with each other. The film is a different look at an everyday process that no one really thinks much of. It’s upbeat and happy as evidenced by the owner of the shoes dancing his way off screen with his freshly laced “kicks” all tied up and strapped to his feet.
